?Oropouche MP Roodal Moonilal says there are 35,000 eligible voters on the UNC electors' list. And, there are 37 polling stations in the 41 constituencies, some of which were brought together to facilitate these elections. Voting begins at 8 am today and will end at 5 pm. According to Moonilal, the 16,000 new applicants for membership will have their applications dealt with after the elections.
"They are not included in the present list. But the executive will work to ensure that their applications are speedily processed soon." In the last general election 198,000 people voted for the party. Moonilal said security arrangements have been put in place in case of thuggery or disturbances during the course of the day. "But we're not expecting any of that. Certainly not from the Panday slate," he said.
