?Leader of Government Business Colmn Imbert said he was uncertain what would take place on the Opposition bench when the House of Representatives meets on Friday.

Imbert was responding to questions by reporters over the possible future of defeated UNC Leader Basdeo Panday. Panday was defeated by Kamla Persad-Bissessar in the UNC's internal elections on Sunday. Imbert said all he knew was what was reported in the press. He was speaking at the official opening of the Sangre Grande Passenger Facility yesterday.

Imbert said: "All I know is what I read in the newspapers that Mr Panday is not willing to step down as Leader of the Opposition until there are a sufficient numbers of (UNC) MPs that would like him to do so. He added: "Honestly, I don't know (what would happen in Parliament). "But I mean, that is their business and I can't tell you (what is going to happen). You would have to figure that out yourself." AS
