?For­mer Unit­ed Na­tion­al Con­gress (UNC) po­lit­i­cal leader Bas­deo Pan­day re­mains un­will­ing to be a part of a UNC led by his suc­ces­sor, Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar. Pan­day has de­nied that con­sid­er­a­tions were be­ing giv­en to de­fect from the UNC and form an­oth­er po­lit­i­cal par­ty for him and his sup­port­ers. "They have stolen the elec­tions...I am con­fi­dent of that," Pan­day said dur­ing a tele­phone in­ter­view yes­ter­day. "I am not go­ing to be a part of that fraud that has been per­pe­trat­ed up­on the peo­ple."

He was re­spond­ing to ques­tions about join­ing Per­sad-Bisses­sar and UNC na­tion­al ex­ec­u­tive mem­bers for the launch of their "Meet the Con­stituents Tour" in Cou­va North since he was the MP for the area. He said: "I am not aware (about their se­ries of meet­ings). I am not sure (about be­ing in­vit­ed to join them). I do not know, but in any case let them do their thing.

"I am not go­ing to be a part of that," he said. When asked about form­ing an­oth­er par­ty since he was un­will­ing to be a part of a Per­sad-Bisses­sar-led UNC, Pan­day said: "No, I will not do that." He said that he moved his fo­cus to at­tend­ing to his con­stituents. "I have a con­stituen­cy to at­tend to and I shall do that," Pan­day said. (KM)
