Chairman of the United National Congress (UNC) Jack Warner says Sports Minister Gary Hunt should be fired because of "missteps" in the erection of a $2 million flag at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Port-of-Spain, last year.
Hunt admitted to not handling that project right in an address to the nation at the weekend. Warner, who is also Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for Chaguanas West, said Hunt should be removed swiftly because he has "proven to be a dismal and miserable failure."
Warner said Hunt should resign as a Government Minister because of his admission to making an error with the project. "His confession that the flag fiasco was a mistake is an indictment on his leadership and an admission that the country was put through a financial burden for a wrong cause," he added. Warner said Hunt's public apology was "a bit too late".
