Ramesh urges more resignations

Hard on the heels of the resignation of Calder Hart, Tabaquite MP Ramesh Lawrence Maharaj is calling on Prime Minister Patrick Manning and the entire Udecott board to step down. In May 2008, Maharaj had raised in Parliament the issue of CH Development being awarded a contract to two relatives of Hart's wife. As a result of this, Maharaj said Manning was forced to appoint a Commission of Inquiry.

"But, it's not only Hart should resign. The entire Udecott board who defended Hart along with the Prime Minister should tender their resignations. "Manning and his Cabinet supported and defended Udecott. The Prime Minister's position was that Hart had done no wrong." Maharaj said Manning must not use Hart's resignation as an exoneration of his Government, nor should Hart be exonerated from the legal consequences of his actions.
