Executive chairman of the Urban Development Corporation of T&T, Mr Calder Hart, today resigned effective immediately. Mr Hart has also tendered his resignation with respect to all state boards and subsidiaries to which he had been appointed, including The National Insurance Board of T&T, Ltd, T&T Mortgage Finance Company, Ltd, National Insurance Property Development Company, Ltd, and The Home Mortgage Bank. Mr Hart stated that it had been a privilege to have served on the boards of these institutions, and he was greatly honoured by the experience of working over the years with the colleagues of competence and dedication. "For their service and friendship, they will forever be in my prayers. I take this opportunity to wish the institutions and their staff continued success," Mr Hart stated.
"As far as Udecott, in particular, is concerned, I count it a great privilege to have had the opportunity to have participated in the growth of Udecott from its inception, into the powerful instrument for the implementation of Government policy that it is today. "It has been of particular satisfaction for me to be able to contribute, through the role which has been assigned to Udecott, to the realisation of the Government's 20/20 Vision. "I am confident that Udecott will continue to justify its selection as the preferred model for the delivery of public sector construction projects in our country and will continue to serve the Government and people with distinction."
"I would like, as I look at the achievements of the various agencies:
1 the National Academies for the Performing Arts
2 the International Waterfront Project and the Hyatt Hotel
3 the increase in NIS pensions to $2,000 per month
4 the achievements of a national housing policy
5 more affordable residential mortgages
6 the restructuring and alignment of a number of these agencies to say that it has been a very satisfying and fulfilling experience, notwithstanding the challenges."
"I would like to thank the Government for the opportunities it has afforded me to serve our country," Mr Hart stated.
