?Housing Development Corporation (HDC) managing director Jearlean John is promising to put her heart and soul into managing Udecott's affairs transparently. If she messes up, John says, she knows she will pay a high price. "I know the onus is on me to do a good job. I tell you I am hoping, after God, not to fail in that objective. I am going to take day and make it night. "I would not take that on and play the fool with it. I am going to do my best," John vowed, during a telephone interview yesterday. John thanked the country for giving her another opportunity to serve, promising she will not disappoint. "All I want to do in this stage of my life is clear the path and go." John tried to allay the fears of housing applicants who queried yesterday if she was going to be moved from the HDC to fulfil her duties at Udecott.
"Let us not pre-empt anything. I am here now, and for the time I am here, let no one worry. I will be there doing my work. Whatever happens it be the will of God. I am committed to the people. There is no need to panic," the HDC boss assured. If Government decided to move her from the HDC, John said there'd be competent people to take on the task. There were others behind her who wanted to do bigger and better things. John said with HDC's delivery of low-income houses and Udecott's social infrastructure programmes, the two state agencies could connect. "These two state agencies can seek after the social needs of the country. This will be a nice marriage." Having worked with the HDC for the last four months, John said the Prime Minister had looked at and evaluated her performance. "To have been given me another assignment, may be the Prime Minister was not disappointed."
