"Why me? Why me?" That was the response from Independent Senator Michael Annisette when questioned on several calls for the revocation of his appointment and his referral by Opposition Leader Kampa Persad-Bissessar to the newly-appointed Integrity Commission.
"Why all these attacks against me at this time?" he asked during a telephone interview from Germany, where he is attending a ten-day International Conference in his capacity as vice chairman of the Latin American and Caribbean Region of the International Transport Federation. Annisette said he has answered all the false claims made against him and see the latest attempts to attack him as old news.
He said: "Truth do not take sides. I have peace of mind. I don't hate anybody. I have no axe to grind and my ego is not inflated." Yesterday founder of the Joint Consultative Council for the Construction Industry, Emile Elias, called on President George Maxwell Richards to revoke Annisette's appointment because of the on-going criminal probe on two projects managed by the Urban Development Corporation of T&T (Udecott).
