"Why me? Why me?" That was the re­sponse from In­de­pen­dent Sen­a­tor Michael An­nisette when ques­tioned on sev­er­al calls for the re­vo­ca­tion of his ap­point­ment and his re­fer­ral by Op­po­si­tion Leader Kam­pa Per­sad-Bisses­sar to the new­ly-ap­point­ed In­tegri­ty Com­mis­sion.

"Why all these at­tacks against me at this time?" he asked dur­ing a tele­phone in­ter­view from Ger­many, where he is at­tend­ing a ten-day In­ter­na­tion­al Con­fer­ence in his ca­pac­i­ty as vice chair­man of the Latin Amer­i­can and Caribbean Re­gion of the In­ter­na­tion­al Trans­port Fed­er­a­tion. An­nisette said he has an­swered all the false claims made against him and see the lat­est at­tempts to at­tack him as old news.

He said: "Truth do not take sides. I have peace of mind. I don't hate any­body. I have no axe to grind and my ego is not in­flat­ed." Yes­ter­day founder of the Joint Con­sul­ta­tive Coun­cil for the Con­struc­tion In­dus­try, Emile Elias, called on Pres­i­dent George Maxwell Richards to re­voke An­nisette's ap­point­ment be­cause of the on-go­ing crim­i­nal probe on two projects man­aged by the Ur­ban De­vel­op­ment Cor­po­ra­tion of T&T (Ude­cott).
