?In the midst of a flurry of born-again Christian zeal that seized the PNM benches during the final minutes of Friday's Lower House sitting, embattled Prime Minister Patrick Manning expressed confidence that he would bounce back again to be the country's political darling. He stressed that Easter–to be observed by Christians in the next two weeks–held a special "lesson for all politicians" that they had to persevere to overcome their problems. Manning is plagued by swirling rumours about his involvement with the Light of the Lighthouse of the Lord Jesus Christ Church in the Heights of Guanapo, his latest dealings with Udedott chairman Calder Hart and the return to prominence of the controversial Yasin Abu Bakr affidavit.
Being a good Christian, Manning said he knew he would be following in Christ's footsteps and his political life would be resurrected. Manning, a veteran politician, has represented the PNM in San Fernando East for the past 39 years. (PB)
