UNC chair­man Jack Warn­er last night ridiculed Bas­deo Pan­day's threat to con­test the Ch­agua­nas West con­stituen­cy. "I am trem­bling," Warn­er told a UNC meet­ing at St Au­gus­tine. He al­so won­dered aloud on what ba­sis was Dr Kei­th Row­ley se­lect­ed as a PNM can­di­date, af­ter his ear­li­er run-in with the par­ty.

He claimed that sev­er­al gov­ern­ment min­is­ters had crit­i­cised Row­ley. Warn­er called on Prime Min­is­ter Patrick Man­ning to ex­plain "on what ba­sis you se­lect­ed some­one about whom you feel all is not well." He re­called that Man­ning had ac­cused Row­ley of "wa­jang" be­hav­iour. Warn­er al­so at­tacked PNM front­lin­er Colm Im­bert.
