As Diego Martin West candidate Dr Keith Rowley mounted the PNM platform yesterday, to whip up support for the PNM, COP leader Winston Dookeran took him to task, saying no longer was there any principles in politics. Dookeran was speaking during the UNC's rally at Mid-Centre Mall in Chaguanas, where the 41 candidates from UNC/COP/TOP/NJAC/MSJ were introduced to thousands of supporters. Dookeran said Rowley's decision had undermined the public's trust in politicians. He told supporters: "Can you trust politicians under the current dispensation after all this?

"Can you trust what politicians do in the name of protecting our future. "There are, apparently, no principles in politics today. The People's Partnership listens to the voices of the people, and that is the way to protect our future. "The May 24 general election constituted the last lawful opportunity for the residents of this country to curtail the politics of malice, division, greed and incompetence visited upon this land by the policies and actions of Patrick Manning and his discredited administration."
