Works and Trans­port Min­is­ter Colm Im­bert has called on sup­port­ers of the Peo­ple's Na­tion­al Move­ment (PNM) to deal with the me­dia over cov­er­age of the 2010 gen­er­al elec­tion.

Im­bert was speak­ing at a meet­ing at the Curepe Com­mu­ni­ty Cen­tre in sup­port of in­cum­bent MP for St Joseph Kennedy Swarats­ingh on Wednes­day night. "You must deal with them, this me­dia that we have, this tele­vi­sion sta­tion and these news­pa­pers," he added.

"I watched TV 6 (news) tonight (Wednes­day). The first sto­ry (broad­cast) is Jack Warn­er talk­ing non­sense, sec­ond sto­ry is Kam­la (Per­sad-Bisses­sar) talk­ing fool­ish­ness, third sto­ry is (Her­bert) Vol­ney talk­ing ug­li­ness, I eh see PNM yet you know," Im­bert said.

He then claimed the me­dia were "bom­bard­ing the air­waves with cov­er­age of Op­po­si­tion meet­ings, be­cause they are not with us." Im­bert said the me­dia did not win elec­tion but peo­ple do. "So I am telling you over the next four days, don't wor­ry about all the stu­pid­ness you see in the news­pa­pers be­cause it bound to be some con­spir­a­cy de­signed to 'con­fuf­fle' your brain. "Don't both­er with what you see on tele­vi­sion. Don't both­er with what you hear on the ra­dio... so I am ask­ing you to ig­nore it," Im­bert said.
