Former leader of the United National Congress Basdeo Panday this morning congratulated the People's Partnership on it's victory in the 2010 general election. In a telephone interview around 12.45 am, Panday said he was happy the party won "by such a large majority."
He said: "Now we can have all the changes we have been asking, now we can hope for real change, We hope for changes, including constitutional reform." Panday, who celebrates his 77th birthday today, congratulated his successor Prime Minister-elect Kamla Persad-Bissessar on television last night. Asked if he personally called Persad-Bissessar to congratulate her Panday said: "No I did not, but I congratulated her on television."
