San Fernando-based attorney Anand Ramolgan has been appointed Attorney
General of T&T. Following the swearing-in of Kamla Persad-Bissessar as Prime Minister, Ramlogan, 37, was sworn in as a senator and made the new attorney general of the country.
Ramlogan is a human rights lawyer and an advocate for social justice.
He has brought several civil matters against the State. Ramlogan hlast night met the Prime Minister-elect. Ramlogan was one of three people screened for the Tabaquite seat, but none of those screened was chosen.
The selected candidate was Dr Suruj Rambachan.
In 2007, Ramlogan fought the Tabaquite seat for as a Congress of the
People (COP) candidate, losing out to United National Congress' Ramesh
Lawrence Maharaj. In the run-up to the election, Ramlogan's office in San Fernando was firebombed. No one was held for that incident.
