San Fer­nan­do-based at­tor­ney Anand Ramol­gan has been ap­point­ed At­tor­ney

Gen­er­al of T&T. Fol­low­ing the swear­ing-in of Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar as Prime Min­is­ter, Ram­lo­gan, 37, was sworn in as a sen­a­tor and made the new at­tor­ney gen­er­al of the coun­try.

Ram­lo­gan is a hu­man rights lawyer and an ad­vo­cate for so­cial jus­tice.

He has brought sev­er­al civ­il mat­ters against the State. Ram­lo­gan hlast night met the Prime Min­is­ter-elect. Ram­lo­gan was one of three peo­ple screened for the Tabaquite seat, but none of those screened was cho­sen.

The se­lect­ed can­di­date was Dr Su­ruj Ram­bachan.

In 2007, Ram­lo­gan fought the Tabaquite seat for as a Con­gress of the

Peo­ple (COP) can­di­date, los­ing out to Unit­ed Na­tion­al Con­gress' Ramesh

Lawrence Ma­haraj. In the run-up to the elec­tion, Ram­lo­gan's of­fice in San Fer­nan­do was fire­bombed. No one was held for that in­ci­dent.
