Chairman of the Indo Trinbago Equality Council (ITEC) Devant Maharaj is questioning the "process and agenda" of the Integrity Commission.Maharaj said that was based on the commission's "alacrity" in arriving at a decision regarding Jack Warner's decision to hold ministerial office while serving at the same time as Fifa vice president.
Opposition Leader Dr Keith Rowley raised the issue on Friday after he assumed office and wrote to the commission on Monday about it. The commission in its response on Wednesday said Warner must choose one of the jobs. In a release, dated June 10, Maharaj said: "It is very disturbing and suspicious that given that ITEC has lodged over 11 complaints with the Integrity Commission over the past two years and these complaints have not been reported as concluded."
He said while some of those complaints have been reported over a year, the commission has not given a status reports on them. Maharaj said: "ITEC calls on the Integrity Commission to explain this inequality of treatment being meted out to People's Partnership (Government) as opposed to the PNM."
