ITEC questions Integrity's agenda

Chair­man of the In­do Trin­ba­go Equal­i­ty Coun­cil (ITEC) De­vant Ma­haraj is ques­tion­ing the "process and agen­da" of the In­tegri­ty Com­mis­sion.Ma­haraj said that was based on the com­mis­sion's "alacrity" in ar­riv­ing at a de­ci­sion re­gard­ing Jack Warn­er's de­ci­sion to hold min­is­te­r­i­al of­fice while serv­ing at the same time as Fi­fa vice pres­i­dent.

Op­po­si­tion Leader Dr Kei­th Row­ley raised the is­sue on Fri­day af­ter he as­sumed of­fice and wrote to the com­mis­sion on Mon­day about it. The com­mis­sion in its re­sponse on Wednes­day said Warn­er must choose one of the jobs. In a re­lease, dat­ed June 10, Ma­haraj said: "It is very dis­turb­ing and sus­pi­cious that giv­en that ITEC has lodged over 11 com­plaints with the In­tegri­ty Com­mis­sion over the past two years and these com­plaints have not been re­port­ed as con­clud­ed."

He said while some of those com­plaints have been re­port­ed over a year, the com­mis­sion has not giv­en a sta­tus re­ports on them. Ma­haraj said: "ITEC calls on the In­tegri­ty Com­mis­sion to ex­plain this in­equal­i­ty of treat­ment be­ing met­ed out to Peo­ple's Part­ner­ship (Gov­ern­ment) as op­posed to the PNM."
