Chairman of The Integrity Commission Dr Eric St Cyr, in response to Attorney General Anand Ramlogan's statement, said yesterday the commission had no staff and was not equipped to address the looting at the Heights of Gunapo. St Cyr could not say if the police were the ones to deal with this matter. "I don't know, I suppose... We don't have any physical or military resources. I don't understand..." Questioned how far investigations into the construction of the controversial church had reached, St Cyr said people were assigned to conduct the probe.
"I don't go and do the investigations. I don't want to be uncooperative or not polite. I really don't understand what the issue is about. The matter is before us. We are doing an investigation." Asked if he felt the commission was being unnecessarily attacked, St Cyr replied: "I don't think so." St Cyr said what we need to do is understand the role of the Integrity Commission. "We are not in any contest. We would just like to get on with what we are doing." (SH)
