Eleven properties of the Jamaat al Muslimeen are to be put up for public auction on August 17.
It is scheduled to take place at City Hall, Knox Street, Port-of-Spain, from 10 am. The auction is being done pursuant to an order of Justice Rajendra Narine on September 11 last year. It is aimed at recovering money owed to the state arising from the July 27, 1990 attempted coup.
Attorney General Anand Ramlogan publicly revealed the planned auction while speaking at a political rally Wednesday night. He has been described as the plaintiff and judgment creditor. The defendants, or judgment debtors, are the Jamaat al Muslimeen, Lennox Phillip, otherwise known as Yasin Abu Bakr, Trevor Constantine, otherwise known as Kala Aki Bua, and 112 others.
Properties
The respective properties are:
�2 Five acres, three roods and 26 perches of land, part of La Puerta Estate, along with a dwelling house, occupied by Anisa Abu Bakr;
�2 a total of 14,807 feet of land at Guayaguayare;
�2 some 635.2 square metres of land and a building at Dibe;
�2 a parcel of land, the size of .4199 hectares, off Rivulet Road, Couva;
�2 a parcel of land, of 2.4551 hectares, at Indian Trail, Couva;
�2 a parcel of land, of 2.4551 hectares, at Rivulet Pass Road, Couva;
�2 a parcel of land, of 12 acres, one rood and 25 perches, at Indian Trail Road, Couva;
�2 a parcel of land, comprising 1,086.5 square metres, at Marabella;
�2 a parcel of land, of six acres, one rood and 24 perches, at Mucurapo;
�2 a lot of land and a building at 10 Park Avenue, Queen's Park East, Port-of-Spain; and,
�2 a parcel of land, of 2.6299 hectares, known as Zorro, at Las Cuevas.
The properties are to be sold subject to outstanding rates, taxes and charges owed.
