The report into the collapse of the Caroni bridge, which claimed the life of one man two years ago, has gone missing.
Works and Transport Minister Jack Warner says he has been searching unsuccessfully for the report since assuming office in May. The report was ordered by then prime minister Patrick Manning after 44-year-old Ramdath Bissoon, of Clarke Road, Penal was killed. He died when the Bailey bridge collapsed while repair work was being carried out. The tragedy occurred on August 2.
Manning appointed engineers Keith Sirju and Dawood Pandor as part of a team to investigate the mishap. The T&TTobago Transparency Institute (TTTI) has been among several organisations calling for the findings of the report to be made public, to no avail. But Warner told reporters at the Office of the Prime Minister yesterday that the document cannot be located.
"If in the next couple weeks we don't find it, then I will have to ask Mr Imbert (former Works and Transport minister) to tell me where it is. I haven't found it yet," Warner added. Warner said he was as curious as other citizens to find out the contents of the report. "But I will get it and when I get it I will make it public. You know I have nothing to hide," the minister added.
