The Chairman of the Princes Town Regional Corporation (PTRC), Councillor Gowrie Roopnarine, is asking members of the public to work in partnership with the Princes Town Regional Corporation to eliminate illegal dumping within the Princes Town Region.
In a news release, the PTRC chairman states that both the Corporation’s Health Department, together with the Litter Wardens, will investigate all reported cases brought to their attention.
“They will work swiftly to ensure that those responsible for illegal dumping are brought to justice,” he promises.
According to Chairman Roppnarine, there has been an increase in the number of reported cases of illegal dumping in the region within recent times, which can be bad news for everyone.
“Litter and dumped trash pose a threat to the environment as well as to those who are given the task to clean it up.”
He called on citizens—civilian and corporate—to do the right thing.
“I am urging individuals and businesses to properly dispose of their waste and to desist from dumping it illegally throughout the region,” he said.
He added: “I want to encourage members of the public to be vigilant and report these cases to the Princes Town Regional Corporation. Be good citizens by obeying the laws of the country, and please report any cases of illegal dumping so that the Corporation can deal with those cases immediately.”
