The T&T Police Service (TTPS) is standing by its promise to restore confidence and rebuild public trust.
As part of its efforts, it has embarked on an outreach measure titled “Coffee and Conversation” with Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Intelligence and Investigations, Suzette Martin.
A flyer promoting the measure advised persons that they can avail themselves of the opportunity by either sending a WhatsApp message to 1-868-799 (TALK); or emailing dcpchat@ttps.gov.tt to schedule their 15-minute chat with the DCP.
Officials assured, “Conversations can be in person, on the phone or online.”
When Guardian Media contacted the number, a female officer indicated the initiative catered to members of the public who wished to report particular crimes.
She went on to explain that the medium was there to listen to the public’s concerns.
She said it was hoped the public would feel more comfortable via this initiative to, “come and report crimes.”
Guardian Media was told that in cases where the public felt that their reports were not being dealt with in a timely manner, or that the TTPS had failed to act in their interest, they were free to utilise this platform to speak with the senior officer.
