The murder of Orisha and Spiritual Baptist leader Bishop Frank Moore, 36, is being blamed on his love for God and his efforts to draw people closer to a spiritual life.
Yesterday, relatives described Moore as a man who had dedicated his life to God.
Moore was killed in his bedroom during the early hours of yesterday by a gunman who claimed to be looking for another man. The incident took place at Manbode Trace, Tabaquite, at 2.30 am.
Police were told that a masked man armed with a firearm went onto the compound and took Moore’s two brothers, who were sleeping in rooms at the front of the house, to the room where the leader of the St Michael’s Spiritual Shrine was in and demanded the whereabouts of a man known as ‘Pressit’.
The armed man made the two brothers sit on a bed in the same room while he questioned Moore about ‘Pressit’.
The gunman then fired one shot at Moore’s head, killing him on the scene.
The gunman then escaped.
Moore’s two brothers and other relatives inside the house at the time were left unharmed.
When Guardian Media visited Moore’s church and house yesterday, close relatives and believers were in grief and shock over the killing.
A relative who wished not to be identified said Moore’s first feast (spiritual event) was at the age of 20.
“That is how long he has been in this spiritual thing helping people and it is because of what he did led him to his demise.”
“He was dedicated and well established in the church and in being a leader, and he believed in helping people and using his leadership to guide them on the right path,” the relative added.
The relative also said Moore believed his mission was to help bring people closer to God.
“He was a man that it didn’t matter if you is a murderer, thief, you sick or you ain’t sick, he would deal with you because at the ending of the day, he is a man who was interested in saving souls. So if you could come here and your mindset on a different level, he felt as though he can change you, he feel that he can show you what God is all about and change your mindset or the position in what you are doing. He would put others in front of himself always and right now, we are on this situation because of that,” the relative said.
On February 25, 2022, Moore survived an attempt on his life after he was shot multiple times. Police described that incident as a case of mistaken identity.
