Republic Bank has announced that effective September 30, 2022, its OneCards will no longer work. The bank has been phasing out the cards for the newer Visa Debit cards that contain microchips on them.
The bank has said that as a result, it is putting in place a schedule to allow people to change their OneCards to the newer versions, while still making customer flow manageable.
From Mondays to Thursdays, all non-mall branches now have extended working hours from 8 am to 3.30 pm and mall branches will open from 9 am to 5 pm. On Fridays, non-mall branches will open from 8 am to 2.30 pm and then from 3 pm to 5 pm, while mall branches will remain open from 9 am to 5 pm.
The bank has said that while customers can change their OneCards at any time during the regular hours, the extended hours of work will only facilitate the changing of the cards and as such, no other transactions will be allowed.
