Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley and Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar joined the list of citizens congratulating Miss T&T World Aché Abrahams on her achievements at the 71st edition of the Miss World Pageant in Mumbai, India, on Saturday.
Rowley congratulated the 24-year-old on his Facebook page, posting a picture of the trailblazer with a caption which read: “Thank you for representing Trinidad and Tobago with such class and poise!”
Although Miss Czech Republic Krystyna Pyszková was named Miss World 2024, Abrahams gained not only the title of Continental Queen for the Americas and Caribbean region but the country’s gratitude and support going forward.
On her Instagram account meanwhile, Abrahams shared a photo of herself surrounded by family, friends and Giselle Laronde-West, who was the first Trinidadian woman to be crowned Miss World in 1986, following the end of the competition on Saturday.
Thanking Larond-West, Abrahams said, “You are the epitome of grace, beauty, inspiration and intelligence. Thank you for representing us so graciously. You have opened doors for women like me and it was an honour to continue your legacy.”
Commenting on not bringing home the top title, Abrahams said she was not dismayed.
“I may not have gotten the crown, but I’ve gained so much gratitude for who I have around me and the country that I truly love. People of T&T, thank you for being part of my journey and your continuous support. I will forever rep the red, white and black!”
Persad-Bissessar also posted a photo of Abrahams to her facebook page with a caption reading: “Aché, your achievement is one of the best things to happen to Trinidad and Tobago in a long while, we celebrate you and thank you for inspiring all of us, especially the young people of our country to be a voice, an advocate, and an example for others to follow! You uplifted our nation and brought immense national pride at a critical and difficult time in our nation’s history. Keep being that beacon of hope and the light that dispels the darkness.”
Abrahams made the top four in the Miss World competition and copped the title of Miss World Americas and the Caribbean.
Abrahams, alongside Miss World Pyszková, Miss Lebanon Yasmina Zaytoun and Miss Botswana Lesego Chombo are now scheduled to head to Mauritius as the promote the pageant’s objective worldwide.
The date of Abraham’s return to Trinidad and Tobago has yet to be announced.
