The Children’s Ark has received a donation of $ 20,151 from the Royal College of Nairobi Alumni 1960’s Trinidad Reunion.
They are the first graduates of the newly established (1962) University of Nairobi, part of a tripartite University of East Africa, much like the University of the West Indies.
Some degree courses existed prior to the formation of the university when the college was known as the Royal Technical College. A few of this year’s participants were from those years.
A contingent of about 40 was in T&T recently, celebrating their reunion.
Funds were available and The Children’s Ark, a registered, non-profit, charitable organisation was selected to receive the funds in support of the excellent work that they do.
The Children’s Ark is an organisation making a difference in the lives of the nation’s marginalised, challenged and ‘at risk’ youth in T&T, through significant multi-million dollar projects using sport, education, reform and awareness programs in order to create positive lifestyle changes in the lives of these special young people.
The organisation is urrently working on two projects—an awareness and prevention programme on child trafficking and the relocation and reconstruction of the entire surgical ward, including the operating theatre, at the Princess Elizabeth Home for handicapped, challenged children.
