The Ministry of Education has confirmed that schools in Trinidad will be closed on Monday, November 28, as a safety precaution, in light of current weather conditions, and the ORANGE Level alerts for Riverine Flooding and Adverse Weather.
In a release, the Ministry says schools will return to normal operations on Tuesday, unless clean-up operations are necessary at those facilities impacted by the serious flooding impacting several parts of Trinidad.
The following is the official statement released by the Ministry earlier today…
“The Ministry of Education (MoE) has monitored updates and received guidance from the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Office (TTMet Office) and the Ministries of Rural Development and Local Government and Works and Transport on riverine levels and flooding in areas so prone.
As a safety precaution, based on the weather conditions which have persisted over the last few hours, the projected overnight rainfall, and the present levels of major rivers, all schools in Trinidad will be closed on Monday November 28th, 2022.
Unless a further advisory from the Ministry of Education is issued, schools will re-open Tuesday November 29th, 2022, except where clean-up operations in schools may be necessary. In such cases, parents will be advised directly through the school’s Principal. The Ministry of Education will continue to monitor updates from the TT Met Service.”
