Scotiabank employees helped distribute vegetable seedlings and fruit trees in the community of Marabella for World Environment Day 2023.
It's part of the Scotiabank and the SURE Foundation which have been helping educate the public for the past three years. Over the weekend, the partnership continued when Scotiabank employees helped distribute 50,000 seedlings and 30 fruit trees in the community of Marabella.
“For us, as part of our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy, we leverage opportunities such as World Environment Day and other key awareness days, to show people that they can adopt habits and make more sustainable choices that positively affect their everyday lives and the environment” commented Gayle Pazos - Senior VP and Managing Director, Scotiabank Trinidad and Tobago.
Dr. Roger Hosein, Director at SURE Foundation shared positive feedback on the partnership with the Bank. “The SURE Foundation’s partnership with Scotiabank goes beyond financial resources. The Bank’s employees are always keen to support and are very involved in the relevant seedling distributions. Cultivating the interaction between our teams has resulted in the achievement of a beautiful community model which brings together civil society and the corporate sector to enhance sustainable development outcomes.”
This was the 5th community seedling distribution this year for Scotiabank with the SURE Foundation. Tomato, patchoi, melongene, chive, celery, corn, bodi, lettuce, cauliflower, sorrel and ochro seedlings were shared, along with barbadine and passion fruit plants.
