Tackling the topics of Teen Pregnancy and Cyber Bullying, teams of students of Servol’s Point Fortin Regional Life Centre took home the top two prizes when they won Ideathon, a competition hosted by Glass Wings International and Citi Bank’s Citi Foundation.
Nigel Forgenie, the country manager of Glasswings, said the contest allows for students to present their ideas using social media to tackle issues affecting young people as cyber bullying, crime, drug abuse, teenage pregnancy and suicide.
Speaking at the La Romain Life Centre, San Fernando, on Thursday, he said participants presented proposals to tackle these issues over social media to a panel of judges who then selected the top three solutions.
The winning teams will be funded to the sum of $1000 each to carry out these projects.
He said 101 students from four servol centres in El Soccorro, Barataria, La Romain and Point Fortin participated in the programme.
