A woman who was shot in D'Abadie along with a 16-year-old girl has suc­cumbed to her in­juries while at the hos­pi­tal on Mon­day evening.

Ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port, at about 1 am on Mon­day, Monique Grif­fith, 21, was stand­ing on the road at John Lane when a man ap­proached her with a gun and opened fire. She at­tempt­ed to run away but fell on the road. A 16-year-old girl who was stand­ing near­by was hit by a stray bul­let.

Both vic­tims were tak­en to the Ari­ma Dis­trict Health Fa­cil­i­ty where they were treat­ed and ward­ed. How­ev­er, Grif­fith suc­cumbed to her in­juries. Grif­fith, po­lice said, was in­volved in a re­la­tion­ship with a man who is well known to them.

An au­top­sy is ex­pect­ed to be per­formed at the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre in St James on Tues­day.
