With just hours to go before the Government's deadline set in for public servants to get vaccinated in order to be allowed to continue working from Monday, district health officials in El Dorado Saturday reported a slowdown in the number of people coming forward.
A visit to the COSTAATT El Dorado Nursing Campus around noon revealed that 40 people had turned up at the facility to be vaccinated. Of this number, only two people were said to be public servants.
This facility operates from 8 am to 3 pm daily.
One official admitted they had observed a slowdown in the numbers coming forward to be vaccinated in the last few days.
Unable to say why this had occurred, another official said they were unsure of what to expect until Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley addressed the nation on Saturday.
Emerging from her mandatory observation period, a St Joseph woman reported enjoying a smooth and seamless process as she accessed her booster vaccine.
She said, "I like that...they were very efficient."
Indicating there were no long lines or delays in the process, she said while the decision to get vaccinated remains a personal choice, "You always want a fighting chance."
She said even as individuals take vitamins and other medications daily in order to fight the flu and other diseases and ailments, so too, the COVID-19 vaccine can be considered as a powerful weapon in the fight against this particular virus.
