Five people, including a 16-year-old boy and a 24-year-old woman, were killed overnight in incidents in north and south Trinidad that occurred in the space of five hours.
The first was at about 7.20 pm in L'anse Mitan, Carenage, where Justine Davis was shot dead. Details of the incident are still sketchy.
Then at about 11.10 pm a gunman came out of a black Nissan Tiida and opened fire on a group of people who were playing cards at Dasheen Shop in Eastern Quarry, Laventille. Four people were shot, including the teenager.
Shermackie Wickham, 31, died at the scene while Saleem Peters, 16, and Damian Granger, 37, succumbed to their injuries while being treated at the Port of Span General Hospital. A 40-year-old man is warded in critical condition.
Police believe that shooting was gang-related.
There was also a fatal shooting at La Romaine but details are sketchy. Police said the incident occurred at about 11 pm. The victim has been identified only as Nico.
