Thomas, who won the crown in 2019, took home the $100,000 first prize with Car­ni­val is We.

Plac­ing sec­ond was Dil­lon Thomas who walked away with the $60,000 prize for his ren­di­tion of For Ah Crown.

In third spot was Giselle “GG” Fras­er Wash­ing­ton who re­ceived $45,000 for Plen­ty Plen­ty Talk.

The show be­gan just af­ter 6 pm at the Shaw Park Cul­tur­al Com­plex, Scar­bor­ough, on Sun­day.

Thir­teen con­tes­tants per­formed one song each for the pan­el of judges.

Dressed in eth­nic African wear, Nicole’s song spoke about the ab­sence of Car­ni­val dur­ing the COVID-19 pan­dem­ic.

Her song said Car­ni­val is an ex­hi­bi­tion of free­dom that goes back to Eman­ci­pa­tion.
