Three persons have been jointly charged with the murder of Sherma Francis and are expected to appear before a Rio Claro Magistrate today.
Richard Flemming, 39, Brandon Deron Lewis, aka ‘Pumpkin’, 27, and Shida Hosein, 29, all of the Biche district, were charged following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard on August 17th.
Flemming faces additional charges of possession of firearm and possession of ammunition.
According to police reports, Francis, 55, of Charuma Village, Biche, was in the company of several persons close to her home on August 1st, when two motor vehicles approached and several loud explosions were heard.
The vehicles then sped off.
The victim who felt a burning sensation to her back was taken to the Rio Claro Health Centre for treatment where she died.
Investigations, supervised by ASP Douglas and Insp. Maharaj, were launched into the incident and three suspects were subsequently arrested on Tuesday 11th August, 2020. Charges were laid by Sgt.
Suresh Ramsahai of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI), Region 2, on Monday 17th August, 2020.
