Twenty-nine new positive COVID-19 cases have been reported in Tobago over the past 24 hours. The number of current active infections on the island now stands at 570.
That’s according to the latest update from the Division of Health, Wellness and Social Protection, in the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), dated Sunday 8 May 2022.
The report also notes that no new deaths have been recorded, and as such, the death toll remains at 266.
The most recent death on the island, an unvaccinated person, was reported a week ago, on Sunday 1 May 2022.
Prior to that date, there was one COVID-19 death in Tobago reported on Thursday 28 April 2022. A fully vaccinated person was recorded as the COVID-19 deceased on that date.
The THA Health Division also is reporting that 13 people currently are hospitalised with COVID-19. Nine of these patients have not been vaccinated at all against the disease, while the other four patients have been fully vaccinated.
The Tobago COVID-19 update for 8 May 2022 says at present, the total number of people in Tobago who have recovered from COVID-19 since March 2020, now stands at 8,173.
