A fully vaccinated person is the latest COVID-19 victim in Tobago, according to the update for Sunday 23 January 2022, released by the Division of Health, Wellness and Social Protection, in the Tobago House of Assembly (THA).
According to the update, this is the only new death recorded on the island over the past 24 hours, and brings the total on the island, since March 2020, to 224 lives lost.
There has been an uptick in the number of new positive COVID-19 cases—some 10 new cases were recorded, bringing the current number of active positive cases to 724.
The Division’s update also reports that some 39 people currently are hospitalised with COVID-19. Of these, 32 have not been vaccinated against the disease, while seven persons have been fully vaccinated.
At present, some 5,516 people in Tobago have survived and fully recovered from COVID-19.
In terms of the island's vaccination drive... Some 4,343 people have received booster doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, as of Monday 24 January 2022.
The Division reports that 23,903 Tobagonians have been fully vaccinated with either a single-dose or two-dose regimen. The number of partially vaccinated persons—those with only one dose of a two-dose regimen—now stands at 1,173.
