The Tobago Hindu Society (THS) in collaboration with the Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Cultural Cooperation (MGICC) and the Indian High Commission celebrated Phagwa or Holi on Saturday at Signal Hill on the site where the THS plans to construct the island's first Hindu temple. Wayne Clarke, the Assistant Secretary of Community Development, Youth Development and Sport on the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), said every creed and race finds an equal place in Tobago.
Clarke, who spoke on behalf of Chief Secretary Farley Augustine, said T&T has a diverse ethnic population that only serves to benefit and enrich all people. He said embracing all cultures would only strengthen the people of T&T.
Pulwarty Beepath, the President of the Hindu Society said the Society was grateful to the THA and former chief secretary Orville London for the half acre of land for the construction of the temple.
