Judy Joseph, the wife of comedian Tommy Joseph, is asking everyone to remember her husband in prayer, after he suffered a stroke and had to undergo surgery last Friday.
“I believe in miracles and I believe that miracles do happen. I would like everyone to pray for Tommy and pray that he recovers soon and walks out of the hospital when he’s discharged,” Judy said yesterday.
Speaking with the Guardian Media via telephone after visiting the veteran comedian at the San Fernando General Hospital, Judy said her husband is weak but in good spirits.
“He is coming along. He’s a little weak but he’s coming along. He had surgery on Friday and as is expected, he would be weak.
“He is still trying to give jokes and stuff. In between, he would make little jokes but he’s coming along. He’s still trying to be the funny man,” she added.
Since Joseph’s stroke, his close friends and colleagues have started fund-raising efforts to help with his medical care. However, Judy admitted that although she gave permission for the financial aid efforts, she wants to be honest about the medical bills so far.
“He’s in the hospital and while he is in the hospital, he’s being taken care of in the hospital. The problem I had, in the beginning, was the length of time it took for them to do a CT scan on him. It took almost like a week and I had a problem with that. While he’s in the hospital I was only asked to pay for one test, which was a blood test and that’s the only thing I had to pay for. So far, everything else they provided it,” she said.
“So, we don’t have any big medical bills. We don’t. But when he comes out of the hospital, we don’t know if he’ll be able to walk or that kind of thing and what we’ll need for him then.”
Judy explained that her husband suffered a stroke in which his mobility is affected.
“He’s not able to walk or anything like that but since the surgery, they have started physiotherapy with him on the bed,” she explained.
