An in­ves­ti­ga­tion is un­der­way af­ter a stu­dent was ap­pre­hend­ed at the Tran­quil­li­ty Sec­ondary School with a cut­lass.

A video cir­cu­lat­ing on so­cial me­dia showed Na­tion­al Main­te­nance Train­ing and Se­cu­ri­ty Com­pa­ny Lim­it­ed MTS per­son­nel strug­gling to take the weapon from the male stu­dent, while school­child­ren in the back­ground could be heard scream­ing with de­light and laugh­ter.

Ad­di­tion­al­ly, a par­ent was re­port­ed to have been on the school’s com­pound with a weapon, which prompt­ed po­lice in­ter­ven­tion.

Al­though no one was phys­i­cal­ly in­jured, two teach­ers re­port­ed­ly suf­fered anx­i­ety at­tacks, with one re­ceiv­ing per­mis­sion to leave school ear­ly.

Guardian Me­dia un­der­stands that the Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion and the T&T Po­lice Ser­vice are con­duct­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions in­to the in­ci­dent.
