An investigation is underway after a student was apprehended at the Tranquillity Secondary School with a cutlass.
A video circulating on social media showed National Maintenance Training and Security Company Limited MTS personnel struggling to take the weapon from the male student, while schoolchildren in the background could be heard screaming with delight and laughter.
Additionally, a parent was reported to have been on the school’s compound with a weapon, which prompted police intervention.
Although no one was physically injured, two teachers reportedly suffered anxiety attacks, with one receiving permission to leave school early.
Guardian Media understands that the Ministry of Education and the T&T Police Service are conducting investigations into the incident.
