Tributes pour in for Sprangalang

Trib­utes are pour­ing in fol­low­ing the pass­ing of vet­er­an co­me­di­an and sto­ry­teller Den­nis "Spran­galang" Hall.

In a state­ment on Fri­day night, Min­is­ter of Tourism, Cul­ture and the Arts Ran­dall Mitchell ex­tend­ed his deep­est con­do­lences to his fam­i­ly and loved ones.

Hall passed away Fri­day night, two days af­ter cel­e­brat­ing his 71st birth­day.

Mitchell said “The range of Spran­galang’s tal­ent knew no bound­aries as his cred­its in­clud­ed co­me­di­an, sto­ry­teller, ac­tor, talk-show host, writer, pro­duc­er and di­rec­tor.

"T&T’s en­ter­tain­ment land­scape was made rich­er by his en­gag­ing per­for­mances and hu­mor­ous take on life. Spran­galang was a gi­ant in the in­dus­try and a cul­tur­al icon. He will cer­tain­ly be missed.”

In a mes­sage post­ed to its Face­book page, Gayelle the Caribbean of­fered their con­do­lences to the fam­i­ly and friends of Hall.

"Our Cul­tur­al Spran­galang is no more. Deep­est con­do­lences to his wife, fam­i­ly mem­bers, friends, col­leagues, to Trinidad and To­ba­go and the Caribbean.

"We have lost our great­est Cul­tur­al Li­brary. Rest now Sprang! Thank you for your ser­vice."

Trin­ba­go Uni­fied Ca­lyp­so­ni­ans' Or­gan­i­sa­tion (TU­CO) post­ed on Face­book the Pres­i­dent, Na­tion­al Ex­ec­u­tive and mem­ber­ship of TU­CO ex­pressed their con­do­lences and sym­pa­thies to Hall.

He was a co­me­di­an, his­to­ri­an, ac­tor, pro­duc­er, talk show host, singer/com­pos­er and a life­time mem­ber of TU­CO.
