Pres­i­dent of the TT Crick­et Board (TTCB) and VP of Crick­et West In­dies, Az­im Bas­sarath says all stake­hold­ers need to come on board to pro­duce qual­i­ty crick­eters.

Bas­sarath was at the time ad­dress­ing the prize-giv­ing func­tion of Ram­la­gans Bal­main Lit­er­ary Unit­ed Crick­et Club at the TTCB head­quar­ters at Bal­main, Cou­va on Sat­ur­day.

Bas­sarath said more pas­sion­ate play­ers are need­ed to raise the bar. “It is some­thing that no crick­et board alone can do, we need the help of every stake­hold­er at Crick­et WI and al­so at the TTCB to en­sure that we can pro­duce the qual­i­ty of crick­eters that were pro­duced in the 1970s, 80s and 90s. We can­not do it alone.

The num­ber of dis­trac­tions we have now, we didn’t have in those eras and of course, if we get more pas­sion­ate peo­ple who are com­ing to the game I am quite sure that we will be able to turn out an­oth­er Bri­an Lara, an­oth­er Vi­vian Richards, those great su­per­stars that who CWI and WI Crick­et have pro­duced," he said.

Bas­sarath al­so said the TTCB is do­ing a lot of work to boost the skills of play­ers.
