Trinidad and To­ba­go has a strong pres­ence at the on­go­ing 2023 Suri­name En­er­gy Oil and Gas Sum­mit (SEOGS).

The coun­try's par­tic­i­pa­tion at the sum­mit was co­or­di­nat­ed by state-owned Na­tion­al En­er­gy Cor­po­ra­tion of Trinidad and To­ba­go Lim­it­ed (Na­tion­al En­er­gy), un­der the di­rec­tion of the Min­istry of En­er­gy and En­er­gy In­dus­tries (MEEI). T&T un­veiled the largest ex­hi­bi­tion pavil­ion at the sum­mit.

In ad­di­tion to the ex­ten­sive dis­play of “Brand T&T”, the Sum­mit will hear from some of this coun­try’s most in­flu­en­tial fig­ures, in­clud­ing Stu­art Young, Min­is­ter of En­er­gy and En­er­gy In­dus­tries.

On Mon­day, Min­is­ter Young par­tic­i­pat­ed in a Min­is­te­r­i­al Round­table fo­cused on “Strate­gic Re­gion­al Co­op­er­a­tion: Chal­lenges and Ben­e­fits”. Join­ing him in this dis­cus­sion was His Ex­cel­len­cy Al­bert R. Ramdin, Min­is­ter of For­eign Af­fairs, In­ter­na­tion­al Busi­ness and In­ter­na­tion­al Co­op­er­a­tion, from the Re­pub­lic of Suri­name, and His Ex­cel­len­cy Robert Per­saud, For­eign Sec­re­tary Min­istry of For­eign Af­fairs and In­ter­na­tion­al Co­op­er­a­tion, from The Co­op­er­a­tive Re­pub­lic of Guyana.

Dur­ing his con­tri­bu­tion, Min­is­ter Young urged all three coun­tries (Trinidad and To­ba­go, Suri­name and Guyana) to take con­trol of their coun­tries’ des­tiny and as­sured the au­di­ence of Trinidad and To­ba­go’s com­mit­ment to col­lab­o­rate for the re­gion “to be that loud voice in the geopol­i­tics.”

Min­is­ter Young al­so em­pha­sised the im­por­tance of shar­ing in­for­ma­tion amongst coun­tries so all can ben­e­fit from lessons learnt.
