Two men were arrested and a firearm, ammunition and drugs seized during anti-crime exercises in Western Division last evening.
The TTPS says during the exercise officers conducted a search warrant at a home in Sparrow Drive, Petit Valley, where one Smith and Wesson firearm, one magazine and a quantity of ammunition were reportedly found in the ceiling of the house. Officers also found one hundred and fifty grams of marijuana at the same location.
Both occupants of the home at the time were arrested and taken to the Four Roads Police Station along with the illegal items.
The exercise was conducted by members of the West End Criminal Investigations Department and the Western Divisional Gang and Intelligence Unit. It was spearheaded by Snr. Supt. Henry, coordinated by ASP Lynch and supervised by Cpl Garcia, Cpl Huggins and Cpl Khan leading a team of officers with the support of the Western Division Task Force, the Guard and Emergency Branch, Western Divisional Traffic Unit, the Divisional Support Unit and K9.
Additionally, officers of the Port-of-Spain Division executed an exercise at Belmont based on intelligence information, upon arrival the suspects fled the scene.
The officers gave chase, but it proved futile.
A search of the area was done and Pc Cupidore found one magazine containing 21 rounds of 5.56 ammunition. A search warrant for arms and ammunition was executed at a home in Mentor Alley, however, nothing illegal was found.
The officers then searched a bushy area and found 435 grams of marijuana and one magazine in a black bag.
