The families of Krystiana Sankar and Yannis Pebbles Augustine, the two women arrested and charged in last week's $3.8 million dollar drug bust at Regent Gardens, Westmoorings, will have to find six million dollars each to bail them out.
Sankar and Augustine reappeared alongside Aruba Eligon and Jervon Cole before Magistrate Aden Stroude in the 4B court today.
Eligon was denied bail outright as this matter was his third drug-related charge. Cole, whose only previous brushes with the law had been road traffic offences, was also not granted bail as the court could not prove he lived at the two addresses he had given, Waterwheel Trace and Sea Trace, Diego Martin, respectively. He then gave a third address where he said he lived with his girlfriend, which is to be verified. He will reappear next Monday.
The bail ruling was delivered at around 2.15 pm with Augustine breaking down in tears as she was called by the Magistrate.
The four were arrested last Tuesday following a raid at Apartment 1 at Regent Gardens, Westmoorings, by a Special Operations Response Team of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service. Some $3.8 million dollars worth of drugs ($3.4 million in marijuana and $400,000 in cocaine) were seized in the bust.
The accused were jointly charged with possession of marijuana and cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. Sankar was also charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition.
