Hours after senior officers of the T&T Police Service (TTPS) advised the public to exercise heightened vigilance as the yuletide season gets into full swing, an Arima woman was robbed of TT$80,000 in cash as she walked out of the bank.
The 36-year-old woman of The Crossings, Tumpuna Road, walked out of the Scotiabank, Arima branch around 1:31 pm, after having withdrawn the money.
It was reported that as she entered her car, which had been parked near KFC, Windsor, Arima she was approached by two men.
Pointing a gun at her, the two masked bandits demanded she hand over the cash or she would be shot.
As one of the suspects grabbed her around the neck, the second man grabbed her handbag, and they ran off in a southerly direction towards a waiting car.
Investigations are continuing.
