A Yel­low Lev­el Alert is­sued by the Trinidad and To­ba­go Me­te­o­ro­log­i­cal Ser­vice is in ef­fect from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM To­day  (Thurs­day, De­cem­ber 19, 2024.) 

The alert warns of moist and un­sta­ble weath­er con­di­tions, with scat­tered show­ers and pe­ri­ods of rain, par­tic­u­lar­ly af­fect­ing To­ba­go and the north­ern half of Trinidad. 

These weath­er pat­terns are like­ly to bring oc­ca­sion­al heav­ier show­ers and thun­der­storms, which in­crease the risk of land­slides and land­slips, es­pe­cial­ly in ar­eas such as the Main Ridge in To­ba­go and the North­ern Range in Trinidad. 

Ad­di­tion­al im­pacts in­clude the po­ten­tial for street flood­ing and gusty winds in ar­eas ex­pe­ri­enc­ing heavy down­pours, while seas may al­so be­come ag­i­tat­ed at times. The pub­lic is ad­vised to mon­i­tor lo­cal weath­er up­dates, as­sess their sur­round­ings be­fore ven­tur­ing out, and avoid dri­ving or wad­ing through flood wa­ters. It is al­so im­por­tant to fol­low the in­struc­tions of lo­cal au­thor­i­ties and stay in­formed through the Trinidad and To­ba­go Me­te­o­ro­log­i­cal Ser­vice's web­site at www.metof­fice.gov.tt.
