I was so glad when I heard that kidnap victim Natalie Pollonais was rescued unharmed and that no ransom was paid. It is important that we give credit where it is due, job well done all those who were involved.
However, to my disappointment when I heard that two officers were detained in connection with the incident. Now that does not mean they were charged but this opens the mind of any right-thinking person to what is really going on.
Some of our officers have been accused in the past of questionable conduct and it is not new, for we have heard it from our very leaders of rogue elements in the service.
I would like our new Commissioner of Police Gary Griffith to continue looking into this, for “several bad apples” can cause the entire service to be brought into disrepute. This is how society functions; the nation can do without the lack of trust and confidence in police service.
Also, let us not forget those who have gone missing and are yet to be found. I believe all efforts should be ongoing to find out what took place in their cases. I conclude with this - we can do without those rogue elements that consistently pull down the police service.
