Allow me to express my deep appreciation of the management committee of the Carifesta Xiv held recently in our country. It was a beaming, and rightly so, Minister of Community Development, Culture and the Arts, Dr Nyan Dolly who paid due tribute to that committee at the closing ceremony.
Having attended many of the events and noted the general high level of professional conduct, especially the punctual starts, one would have seen evidence of diligence in the logistics.
It was, as reported, incident free. Not once in attending over six events did I see a scuffle, or hear an obscene word or witness an argument, and, best of all, not a single scent of marijuana. There was no great craving for, or sale of, alcohol either. The security personnel remained inconspicuous without any need for them, save precautionary measure.
The interaction with the Caribbean neighbours and others, was certainly beneficial, as we further await the integration CSME will bring. Kudos to all as this could not have been achieved without the dedicated committed service rendered.
The programme was not confined to stage with drama, song, and comedy but extended to symposia on relevant topics. The business aspect in the Market would have also benefited those interested in trade and investment. Antigua and Barbuda, here we come 2021!
