Juan Guaido as the leader of the Venezuela National Assembly is the leader of Venezuela, according to the Constitution.
This comes about from various actions of Nicholas Maduro that cause the Constitution to revert power back to the National Assembly. There are at least 3 such actions; the latest being the skipping of elections. What Maduro has been trying to do is de-legitimize the Assembly -a fourth count and the most damning.
Accordingly the argument by Minister Dennis Moses that the Rio Treaty can not not apply is wrong. By extension the whole foreign relations paradigm of the Rowley Administration to continually recognize Maduro as President, has proved baseless and an imposture. In addition, Moses’ assertion that the Treaty does not allow meddling in internal affairs, contradicts what the Treaty is meant to achieve: in this case consultations and support of Guaido.
Moses’ whole thesis fails. Look at it, they have waited this long to begin to admit we can argue the legalities. What a let-down of the people of Venezuela and what a disgusitng shame.
The stylish scarf that the PM insists on sporting about with, has to reckon with so much unhappiness, temerity and distortion plus the upset he instills in us.
