Republic Day is a very important day in our history to celebrate and be appreciative of in Trinidad and Tobago because it signifies that supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives.
This is an occasion to commemorate the values of our Republic and to reaffirm our commitment to liberty among all our citizens. And above all, this is an occasion to celebrate T&T and the spirit of being Trinbagonian.
Every Republic Day is precious and every day in the life of our Republic is precious.
I remain optimistic that things will eventually change for the better in T&T. I believe that corruption in high places will be drastically reduced and that crime levels will come under control.
Some people are of the belief that most Trinidadians are asleep and apathetic about the state of our Republic. Some are, but not all. People are slowly waking up. I believe in the strength of the Trinbagonian spirit. I believe that the murders of innocent people in this country have not gone unnoticed. Eventually, good people are going to rise up in our republic and say that this madness cannot continue and “enough is enough.” In spite of all the negativity and chaos, I strongly believe that we are on the verge of a revolution.
The people are already waking up and are going to demand change very soon by voting for a party that has the will to instigate reform of all that is wrong with T&T and the people are going to hold that party to account.
I remain optimistic that a change is coming because many people have become much more interested in the political process and very concerned about the state of affairs in T&T.
