The West Indies Cricket Board has invited Five (5) players to join the Twenty Three contracted players (for the period October 1, 2010 to September 30, 2011) in preparation for the upcoming Digicel Home series against Pakistan and India, the Trinidad Guardian has learnt.Among the five players invited for the training camp in Barbados are Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo and Lendl Simmons from T&T, as well as Marlon Samuels of Jamaica and Anthony Martins from the Leeward Islands.
Simmons, 26, makes a return to the West Indies, after playing three Tests in 2009 and 19 one dayer, together with eight (8) T 20's.All twenty eight players (apart from the players involved in the regional final) are expected to undergo some serious fitness tests from the WICB officials from Friday.A 14 member West Indies team is to be selected for the first match against the Pakistan team on April 21, which is a T20 international and there is word that a specialist T20 team may be selected including some of the leading names from the Caribbean T20 championships.
