Lendore, Thomas in World top four

De­on Lendore and Mikel Thomas are T&T's high­est ranked ath­letes in the lat­est IAAF World Out­door rank­ings. Both are at num­ber four in their events. Lendore jumped in­to the top five in the men's 400m fol­low­ing his 45.56 sec­onds clock­ing at the UM Hur­ri­cane Alum­ni In­vite in Flori­da, USA on Sat­ur­day. The Queen's Roy­al Col­lege grad­u­ate dipped un­der the Olympic B stan­dard of 45.90 sec. Lendore al­so im­proved his per­son­al best of 46.20 sec­onds and his pre­vi­ous rank­ing of 23rd. Jar­rin Solomon is at 22nd af­ter he sped to vic­to­ry at the Don Kir­by Clas­sic in 45.92 sec­onds on April 7. Thomas re­mains at 4th in the men's 110m hur­dles stand­ings with his Olympic qual­i­fy­ing time of 13.48 sec.

Ke­ston Bled­man and Janeil Bellille are the next high­est rat­ed lo­cal ath­letes at fifth. Bled­man blazed in­to to the top ten of the men's 100 per­for­mance list with his Olympic qual­i­fy­ing time of 10.12 sec (a stan­dard-10.18) in fin­ish­ing sec­ond at the UM Hur­ri­cane Alum­ni Meet on Sat­ur­day. Bellille is fifth quick­est in the world in the women's 400m hur­dles with her 55.91 vic­to­ri­ous run at the Texas Re­lays on March 31. At the last rank­ings the 2008 dou­ble Carif­ta cham­pi­on was fourth. Em­manuel May­ers al­so dropped one place in the men's one-lap hur­dles list to 12th with 50.32 run on April 6. Nine­teen-year-old Keshorn Wal­cott is at 19th in the men's javelin rank­ings fol­low­ing his 77.59 gold medal per­for­mance in tak­ing his third straight boys un­der 20 Javelin ti­tle at this year's Carif­ta Games in Bermu­da on April 9. Wal­cott's ef­fort is a new na­tion­al and CAC Ju­nior record.
